“I’ve got a sea of flowers
But all these hours are just mine alone
No one’s home
Buy me the finest china
Each time I dine it’s always me alone
With the heater on”
Bridgit Mendler – All I See is Gold
unlike woolf i will not let them bring me to the ocean
to the depths i’m so afraid of
unlike plath the gas will not suffocate me although it came close
exactly ten years ago
just when i started sniffing at the sweet stench of words like
világ, otthon, magány
but when the machine beeps
and they start to prod and pry, trying to separate me from my heaviness
hoping to find gold, these greedy capitalists
i realise i am not unlike woolf, i am not unlike plath
when my nose eagerly searches for the familiar smell
of potential extermination in every old house i enter
and my ears for the sound of waves crashing on shores where I don’t belong
